When writing a book, you will find yourself writing down ideas on any piece of paper you might find. If you do not organize them properly, it will be difficult to make heads or tails of your notes. Storybook is a good alternative to covering your walls with sticky notes. It offers the right tools for managing your ideas, characters and anything else you want to include in a book.

Besides a Pro version, the software also comes in a free edition. It is a bit larger than other text editors. The size of the setup file is almost 34 Mb, but once you download it, you will not have to wait longer, due to the fast installation process.

You can write your story's chapters and scenes in separate boxes, on the central area of the interface. The boxes are time stamped, so you can get a better idea on your project's timeline. New boxes can be created by clicking a button on the toolbar, a plus icon, beneath the existing ones or with the buttons available on the boxes themselves.

With the options on the toolbar, you can also create new chapters, characters, locations, parts and more. Once created, they will be organized automatically in a tree structure, in the upper right area of the interface. When you create a new box, a tabbed window will appear, where you can associate it with a created chapter, characters, locations and so on. It is also possible to edit your text here, just like on the main interface. While typing in this window, you can import text from a file on your hard drive, and with the aid of a spell checker, you can make sure there are no mistakes to be found.

Pros:
There are many flexible features to find in Storybook. Each scene or chapter can be edited separately and the software will help you manage them with great ease.

Cons:
Due to the large number of options, you may have some difficulties when getting started. Fortunately, there is a well structured help file available.

You can focus only on your creative writing and let Storybook organize your ideas with its efficient and flexible features.
